How Daxio Design helped FPBC to strengthen public trust and attract more women to the forestry industry

THE CHALLENGE

Forest Professionals BC (FPBC) is the governing body responsible for the training, certification, and regulatory oversight of forest professionals across British Columbia. Daxio Design has built a long and productive partnership with FPBC, producing a wide range of communication materials. Typical projects include data-driven internal reports which support strategic planning, province-wide public relations programs, and targeted recruitment campaigns. Our role has been to create visually engaging materials that support transparency, public trust, and responsible forest stewardship.

THE STRATEGY

Internally, our strategy was to transform complex data into visually engaging communications that informed members by merging data-rich content with bold design. Externally, our recruitment marketing emphasized gender equity to improve inclusivity in the forestry sector. Additionally, public relations materials were designed to inspire public trust and raise awareness of the high ethical standards upheld by registered forest professionals.

  • Annual Strategic Plan: Convert complex data into concise, visually engaging reports that assist the board of directors in making effective, evidence-based policy decisions.
  • Logos (Conference & 75th Anniversary): Design unique conference logos that reflect each year’s theme and location while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Recruitment Campaigns: Develop digital and print ads which attract new registrants and facilitate the inclusion of women into a traditionally male-dominated industry.
  • Public Event & Conference Banners: Strengthen FPBC’s public image with engaging graphics that highlight the benefits of becoming a certified forest professional.
  • Magazine Ads: Design education-focused ads that actively encourage educators to take students to the forests to learn about nature firsthand.
  • Stationery Package: Produce attractive branded stationery, letterhead, and document templates for internal and external corporate communications.
  • Email Campaign Headers: Create inspiring e-newsletter headers, celebrating BC’s forest regeneration cycle with beautiful line art representing the four seasons.
  • PowerPoint Presentations: Inform FPBC members with visually compelling presentations that outline corporate goals and major milestones achieved.
  • Professional Certificates: Design professional accreditation certificates for qualified FPBC members. (Legal credentials issued under the Professional Governance Act)

RESULTS

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS:

Daxio Design streamlined FPBC’s internal communications by converting complex data into concise, visually engaging reports that helped the board of directors make effective, evidence-based policy decisions. Our conference presentations informed FPBC members with visually compelling graphics that outlined corporate goals and highlighted significant achievements.

EXTERNAL PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Our strategic marketing materials successfully showcased FPBC’s leadership role in environmental stewardship, regulatory accountability, and professional excellence. Our digital and print campaigns were highly successful in generating increased awareness of the forestry industry across the province of BC.

RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGNS:

Daxio Design’s recruitment ads played a pivotal role in supporting FPBC’s talent acquisition. In 2024, applications for Registered Forest Technologists rose by more than 60 per cent. Recruitment campaigns successfully encouraged more women to pursue training in forest sciences, enabling FPBC to achieve a major equity milestone, increasing female enrolment from 21 per cent to 38 per cent within five years.
